Deactivate Warning "also delete item(s) from hard drive and Shortcut key for add persons name

New Here ,
May 07, 2020 May 07, 2020

I am using Windows 10, PSE 14

1) It seems there must be a way to deactivate the warning about deleting from hard drive so one does not have to check the box each time to confirm deletion from hard drive as well as the catalogue each time a photo is deleted. I cannot find a way to eliminate that warning in the preferences section.

2) Also, is there a shortcut key for adding a persons name tag to photo. Seems there should be a faster way than select photo, right click, click add name??

1.  If you are talking about the following message that pops up when you press the delete button on selected media, the answer is no.  This is not a warning message, it's a choice that a user makes.  Either the media will be deleted from the catalog only, or the user can choose to delete the file from their computer too.  No warning is given if you want to check the box and delete the file from your computer.

2.  There is no keyboard shortcut to add a name to a recognized face or to add a People (person) tag to an image.  But there are a number of ways to accomplish these tasks more efficiently than adding a tag to a single photo at a time.

  • For faces that have been face recognized, (IMO) the fastest way to tag the images with a People tag is to name stacks of multiple photos in the UnNamed People room.
  • If you are not concerned about face recognition, you can simply click and drag the tag from the Tags panel to one or more selected images (or vice versa).
  • If you are concerned about face recogntion, with People Recognition turned on in the View menu, hover over a face and the Add Name text box becomes available with one click
  • If a person's face has not been recognized, go to Single Image View of the photo with a double-click and the Mark Face button becomes available in the lower tool bar.

I'm not trying to sell you a new version of the program, but I can tell you that Face Recognition has improved greatly since version 14, and Elements 2020 does a great job of stacking multiple photos into a single stack which can be named easily in the UnNamed People room.  For my close family members, I have had stacks as large as a thousand images that have identified the person with 100% accuracy.  It's not perfect, but may be worth your consideration.
