Would appreciate some help with this problem. I am working with a tool - say the brush tool - then it automatically switches to the impressionist brush or the next brush or the color replacement brush. This happens with all my tools! they just switch to the next option of that same tool without my selecting it. so annoying! how do i stop it from contantly picking tools I never use?  thank you!

What version of Photoshop Elements and operating system are you using?

You can go to Edit>Preferences (Windows) or Adobe Photoshop Element (version) Editor>Settings (Preferences) (Mac)

General and check Use Shift Key for Tool Switch.

That means instead of just switching tools using a single key you would need to press both Shift and the letter key to switch tools.

I just realized, it happens everytime I use a keyboard shortcut - it switches to whatever the next tool is. I.e. if I press "B" it first goes to the brush. then later on when i'm in a different tool i press the B again and it goes to "Impressionist Brush"  Can i disable all these options i never use so they stop getting selected?  TY
