Disconnected files are always the result of a change in your computer created outside of the organizer.
If you mean that all the thumbnails in your editing space are showing the question mark indicating 'missing' or 'disconnected' files, that means that the files are no longer in the location registered in the catalog - that location can be seen in the information panel on the right.
Have a look at that registered location and compare to the real location of those files if you can find them from your Explorer or Finder. Does this comparison help you to find the root of the problem?
