I am going to delete Photoshop Elements completely because I cannot, after hours of searching, figure out how and why it stores the images I import from my dslr.
I set up the photo storage folder in preferences when I purchase this software. Now I find that most of these photos are stored on my OneDrive and I have no more cloud storage space.
I am no photoshop expert, but I am an accomplished computer user.
Also, I find PE doing "creations" even after I spent considerable time figuring out how to turn that "feature" off!
I am very confused by this program to the point where I can't use it anymore. Paid my license fee! Can't find where my stuff is and don't understand why it seems to ignore my file preferences.
Could I be responsible for this mess? Yes! I assumed that I could use it without difficulty.
I hope you will excuse this rant, but I am at the end of my rope.

Ron and Bev, Sorry you're having those issues. That's exactly the kind of thing that drives me nuts! Hope you find a solution.

Are you using the Adobe Photo Downloader to import the file from your DSLR (using the Import>from Camera or Card Reader option). If so, you tell the the program exactly where to store the files. Whatever is set here overrides any preferences which merely provide a default location.
Are you saying that this location is not being honored? If that is the case, then I suspect that the problem is with your settings for OneDrive.
If you want to resolve the issue and I haven't addressed it to your satisfaction, we need more details of what is happening with screenshots of the APD dialog and whatever other preferences you think you may have set.

Greg,
Thanks very much for your helpful suggestions. I usually remove the SD card from my D7200 and put it in my SD card reader/usb hub. I will not be surprised if my troubles are being caused by OneDrive. My last import from a thumb drive with a whole bunch of pictures from an event went entirely to OneDrive and quit early when I ran out of space. Even though I specified that imported images should be saved to my normal location which is a folder on a internal (not boot) hard drive, after I deleted the images to get my OneDrive back, the thumbnails appear in Organizer, but it can't locate the files.
Thanks again and I will try to stop OneDrive from co-opting my PSE settings.
