When I try to open a DNG file, it says "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." Why is this happening? Wasn't DNG created by Adobe? I thought this was supposed to be a universal format and now Adobe's own product can't even open it?

Hi,
PSE 2018 opens my DNG files
What camera did the raw images come from?
Which operating system are you running on?

The camera is an Olympus OMD E5 and I am running Windows 10. The images
were imported and converted to DNG using Lightroom.

Hi,
Which version of Lightroom did you use to convert it?
Is it possible for you to try the free standing DNG converter to convert a raw image to DNG format. If PSE can read that then the problem may be that Lightroom is getting it wrong.
Have you tried reading the DNG files in Photoshop?
BTW for clarification is the camera model OM-D E-M5

Hi Brian
I was playing around with it and opened an .orf file from my camera which
worked OK and then tried a .dng after that and all of a sudden it worked! I
don't know what happened but all is good now. Thanks a lot for your
response and help.

Hi Wade,
The main thing that catches people out when using the DNG converter is that it works on a folder. You have to browse to the folder containing the file(s) you want converted.
