Duplicates in Catalog

New Here ,
Mar 27, 2018 Mar 27, 2018

Hi there

I'm using of Photoshop-Elements for many years now. Primarily because of the extremely easy way to organize images. For many years this worked very well, but for three or four years now, after moving the pictures from one drive to another, I'm having problems with duplicates in my catalog. There are duplicates like this:

E:\images\private

e:\images\private

c:\images\private

All these paths exist, but only "E:\..." should be included in the catalog.

Also, there are cases, when the same picture resides multiple times in the same folder (e.g. "imageName.jpg" and "imageName-2.jpg"). I've been able to delete those images from the disc using some utility that searched for duplicates images with this naming convention and I deleted the ones with the counter. But I think, many of those images are still in the catalog. The should be removed from the catalog as well.

Overall: I have a huge mess in the catalog and I'm looking for a way to clean up the catalog. This is also important, because I use the tag-feature of the elements organizer. I now let it write it to the files itself, but I'm not sure if that's enough.

I'm open vor any help regarding cleaning up the messy catalog. Thanks a lot in advance!!

By the way: I just installed the 2018 version.

Best,

Andy
