I have vers 4.1 of Lr and the latest Photoshop Elements. When trying to Edit my Lr photo in Elements and attempting to do so by the "Edit In Photoshop" button, I get an error message saying either Photoshop not found or edit in Photoshop failed. How do I resolve this?

Researching the problem on the web, one is told to open Preferences and go to ExternalEditing. This dialogue does not appear in 4.1

Thanks in anticipation for your help.

I think that the two forums where you can get the best answers are Lightroom Classic and the feedback forum:

That's a long time I have uninstalled that LR version, but I did use a LR plugin from Dawmatt: Elemental. It enabled much better coordination between both apps. I think that there is often a delay for LR to be updated to use the lasted PSE version automatically: a good reason to ask in the feedback forum.
