Elements 11 Cannot open too large psd file

Hi,

Normally when I saved this project it had around 40Mb but last time I saved it, elements created .psd file which has more than 1Gb and it will not open. It says that the result would be too big. I have no idea why is the psd file suddenly so large and what should I do. Thank you for help.

What kind of project is it?

Is the error related to pixel size or MBytes size? Precise text of the error message?

Do you stack many images on your canvas without simplifying each layer? That keeps 'smart layers" which takes a lot of space.

Or are you creating a Photomerge panorama?

It is just few layers with pictures. All of those pictures cannot possibly make such big file. I just saved it in .psd so I can work with it later but that psd file has 1,18Gb for some reason (never happened before). Last time I saved it, it had max 100MB. When I try to open it Elements says *Požadavek nelze dokončit, protože výsledek by byl příliš velký.* which is in translate *The request cannot be completed because to result would be too big (large)*

The resultion of canvas is 27402x2520 px in 80dpi.

And yes I am simplifiying layers.

Hi ,

Every duplicate layer will increase the size of image two fold.

Just about duplicate layers , use adjustment layers and mask - it will save your image size.
