When updating elements 12 I got a response that states Adobe did not recognize my app as a genuine creative product and stopped the update. I purchased my elements from the adobe website so I am not sure why I got this message. What should I do.

Thanks for posting in Adobe forums.
I understand you are facing issue in updating Elements 12.
Can we follow the following steps:
- Please click here to download Adobe Application Manager for Windows.
or
Please click here to download Adobe Application Manager for Mac.
- After installation please double click its icon on your desktop screen to complete the installation.(Windows)
- After installation please double click its icon by searching it on finder to complete the installation (Mac)
- Open Adobe Elements
- Click "Help"
- Click " Updates"
