Elements 14 - Over writes files of the same name but different file type

New Here ,

Suddenly had this issue on elements 14.

I always save my work as a standard PSD. (name.psd) . Then when I want to use it in other projects I simply saved it in the same library as file_name.jpg or file_name.bmp etc.  Until last week this was the case of years doing the same, now Im suddenly getting Elements asking if I want to over write my PSD file with the JPG Im attempting to save

This is strange as in theory they are for all intents and purposes different files so they should allow multiples of the same name with different file extensions associated.

Anyone come across this one yet?  Or am I missing something here

What OS are you using?

Are doing a Save or a Save As?

If you are using the Save button, the message is normal.

If you are doing a Save As, are you sure that the Save as type dropdown menu is not set to psd?

Hi guys thanks for the replies!

I tried a range of things to check this issue

Save as is used all the time not save so I knew this wasn't the culprit

However,  tried selecting the PSD previously saved so I ensured I had the name absolutely right but changed the file extension once the file name populated the name box.   No an industry standard convention admittedly but due to the file naming protocol it was the safest as some files (pictures)  change slightly for different use i.e. EU_roof_sector_BRN-1 then a slight shade change would require EU_roof_sector_BRN-2

It this that causes the issue. It appears that even when selecting the name to save and changing the file extension the system seems to be remembering the original file selected to save and warns about an overwrite.  If I key the name in full or save to another folder no issue.

Strange to see it suddenly do this but - its something to be aware of. my side.
