To expand on what arshla jindal mentioned above - until Camera Raw 9.12 becomes available for PSE 15 (or until PSE 16 comes along with that level of support), you have another path - consider using the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your files from CR2 to DNG. Once converted, the DNG raw file will be able to be read by PSE 15 without issue.

You can find the DNG converter download at this page:

Digital Negative (DNG), Adobe DNG Converter | Adobe Photoshop CC

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

PSE 15 supports camera versions upto 9.10 only while Canon 6d mark II cr2 files require minimum of 9.12 version due to which PSE 15 would not be able to recognize them.

You can refer to these resources for more info:

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Hope this helps you understand the reason.

Thanks,

Arshla

Will this be fixed? I am paying a monthly fee for a program and having to convert files before using it is foolish.

Sounds like your using photoshop cc, since photoshop elements is not by subscription., but a perpetual license.

Photoshop cc is able to use the camera raw 9.12 plugin, just go Help>Updates from within photoshop to get it.

Has this been fixed yet? I'm on Photoshop elements 15 and cannot open my RAW files from Canon 6D Mark ii.

I know how to check for updates, and it says it is up to date. But is there a way to see what version of Camera Raw is installed?

As it turns out, pse 15 never got a camera raw update beyond 9.10, so you could use the adobe dng converter to convert the files to

dng copies which then pse 15 should open. Or you could upgrade to pse 2018 which is able to open the Canon 6D Mark ii without having to use the dng converter.

windows

Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 10.3

mac

Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 10.3

To see what version of camera raw you have in the pse 15 editor go to Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw (windows) or

Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor>About Plug-In>Camera Raw (mac).

To check for updates got to Help>Updates in the pse 15 editor.

Thanks for the info. A bit disappointing, but at least I now know.

I had just purchased PSE15 in mid 2017. Is there an upgrade price, or is it the same price for everyone?
If there is no upgrade price, is it possible to transfer older versions to other people, that may not need the newest version?

thanks for the help!
