I have PSE 2018 installed in a school lab. For some reason, the programs crash with an unspecified error whenever students try to open a .jpg. They can open all other file types, including .gifs and .pngs. It's also possible to copy a .jpg from a google image search and paste it into an open document. But trying to load a .jpg directly results in a crash every time.
Any ideas? Searches have brought up the same problem in PS, but the solutions there related to changing Camera Raw settings that Elements doesn't have.

Hi,
Can you please specify exactly which program is crashing. It's Organizer or Editor.

The error happens in the editor. I don't use the organizer so I don't know if it also happens there.
It occurs with all .jpgs, but no other file formats.
Elements is fully updated.
Operating system is Win7.
The program was just added to the lab at the beginning of the month. It has had this problem since it was installed.
The error message is just the generic, "This program has encountered an error and must now close" error. No additional information is provided.

This kind of error is very frequent since the last Windows 10 (1803) update.
Error: An integer between 50 and 8 is required | Elements | Windows 10
You have to edit the registry as described step by step in the upper tech doc.

I did miss the fact that you are on Win 7.
My suggestion was for Win 10, sorry.
