Elements 2018-Error Message: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSVCP140.dll

Community Beginner ,
Oct 20, 2017 Oct 20, 2017

Hello All,

I had to remove Elements 14 because Windows 10 does not support it.  I replaced it with a newer version (Elements 2018) that is supposed to be compatible with Windows 10 but it is not. As a result I am unable to use Elements 18. Windows has been employing updates, and this last update stopped my program from working.

Any suggestions?

Are there any patches for this?

Any input would be helpful.

Thank you.

Fred

Hello,

I just attempted to re-install PSE18 but I was unsuccessful. When I completed the download I viewed a message that said "Some files may not have been installed successfully". There was another link that was supposed to offer additional support but that did not work either.

It is not even 2018 yet and the PSE2018 does not work. I hope that the Adobe program writers will create a patch or a product that is supported by Windows 10 soon, so that I may enjoy my program.

I just bought this program less than 2 weeks ago and the support for it is non-existent.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Dear Adobe Representative,

I have uninstalled the PSE18 program and re-installed it again. This is the third time.

The program was downloaded with some missing files. I wonder where the rest of the files are....

Is there a patch for this?

Can I have some assistance please?

Is there within your organization working on creating a solution to this problem OR are all the PSE18 users at a loss now?

Fred

Hello Akshita,

Thanks for your quick reply!

Unfortunately, I was unable to download the Microsoft Visual C++-

software. Please see error message attached.

Also, I was unable to capture an image with my snipping tool of the error

message that I received when I launched PSE2018.

I hope that you will still be able to assist me further.

Thank you.

Dear Adobe Representative,

I have been trying to get Elements to open on my pc for about a week now. I have interacted with several different people that are supposed to be "helping" me. I was asked to uninstall, reinstall, try different browsers, and all kinds of other actions. During this time not one of you came out and said that there is a known problem with Windows 10 S/ Elements and you are working on it with Microsoft.

I found this article.

Why couldn't you just tell me this from the start?

Absolute disgrace.

Hi Fred ,

The article you mentioned is of 10 S , this OS support apps through windows app store only, Elements 2018 is not on windows app store yet .Since your installation of Product is fine, seems to me you do not have 10 S OS. Which windows OS do you have ?

on other variants of windows 10  , 2018 installation via dmg /exe is supported - which you probably did . and facing issue with

VC Runtime installation , which is Microsoft issue.

As a resolution for this, please check and apply any windows update available ,and try uninstalling 2015 runtime already present on the machine and install it again

Hello aksagarw,

You really have misunderstood me, and it frightens me. I will attempt to clarify here piece by piece using your message.

You wrote:

"The article you mentioned is of 10 S , this OS support apps through windows app store only"

I do have Windows 10. I am not sure which version it is. I MUST have Windows10 because I am unable to to download the PSE18. This version came with my pc when I bought it. I do have Windows 10S. I had PSE14 and it did not work after WIndowns applied updates.

You wrote:

TAKE A LOOK- I found this article.

I have been using the Window Update Assistant. As the article states there is an apparent problem with the two programs. PSE18 and Windows have a conflict.

THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED!

Please check your windows version by opening cmd and  typing in winver .

and let us know if the resolution stated below works for you.

Issue:

After installing Visual Studio 2015 Update 3 RC, you may encounter issues installing .NET Core 1.0.0 RC2 - VS 2015 Tooling Preview1 with the following error:

  • 0x80070666 - Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of the product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel.

This is due to a setup issue resulting in VC++ 2015 Update 3 RC Redistributable registry keys being incorrectly removed during Update 3 RC setup.

Workaround:

Repair the Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (both x86 and x64) via the "Programs and Feature" Window (a.k.a. Add/Remove Programs)

  • On Windows 10, right click the start button and select "Programs and Features"
  • Select "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64) - 14.0.24123" and then click "Change"
  • In the Visual C++ 2015 redistributable dialog, select "Repair"
  • Select "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86) - 14.0.24123" and then click "Change"
  • In the Visual C++ 2015 redistributable dialog, select "Repair"
  • Install or repair .NET Core 1.0.0 RC2 - VS 2015 Tooling Preview1

please see Visual Studio 2015 Update 3 RC Known Issues  for more information

the article you referred to is for apps downloaded through win app store - have you done so ? if not , It has no relation with the issue faced on your system .

@aksagarw

I found the programs and features but C+++15, is not on the list.

My Windows 10 came with my laptop. There are no discs (and there is no disc drawer). I have to download ALL software for this device.

I even went to try to and revert to the factory version of WIndows 10 but after researching, I learned that I will have missing files if I try and do that.

THIS ISSUE STILL NOT RESOLVED.

Thank you.
