When I try to open elements 2020 organizer, an Elements Organizer window pops up which says (Searching for files to import; 10 items found).  Organizer hangs up here and the program has to be shut down to get out of the hang up.  Anyone have a solution to this problem?

Hi,

What is the location of the files organizer is trying to import, are they on your local machine, an external hardrive or a network location? What is the current size of your catalog?

Thanks!

Organizer is trying to download the pictures from the local machine.  Before I get the popup window that says (Searching for files to import; 10 items found) I get a popup window that says-  Files Ready for Import-    New files have been downloaded from device since last launch of Elements Organizer.  Elements Organizer will now import these files into catalog.  When finished, do you want to show only the new files in Meadia Browser?  I click yes and get the Searching for files to import box and the program hangs up at this point.

Thanks for replying.  Any ideas?

What OS are you using?

From what device are you importing?

What is the format of the files you are importing?  (If from an iPhone - .heic, jpeg or dng?)

Do you have any watched folders set up.

If you are importing from a phone, does the Adobe Photo Downloader (APD) appear when you plug the device into your computer?  And, if so, after the APD saves the files to your computer, does the Organizer open and import them immediately?

Do you change the names or locations of the files after saving them on your computer, using your OS instead of the Organizer?

If you create a new catalog, can you import the files into it?  (To get to the Catalog Manager window, press the Shift key while opening the program in Windows.  This will allow you to create and open a new catalog.)
