I am unable to save edited files as elements 2020 says they are locked and blah, blah......in ios finder to unlock (I followed to the letter) still does not allow but suggests duplicating file??????? i have 108,000 files! they must be joking!! It appears many people have had same problem over the years.  Does anybody use an alternative photo editor that is free or a reasonable price please, as neither Adobe nor Apple have satifactory soloution

Elements doesn't run on iOS. iOS is for iPhones and iPads. From the reference to Finder I guess you have a Mac.

What OS are you in fact using?  If you have upgraded to Monterey, Elements 2020 will probably have some issues. Apparently, Apple does not ensure that legacy programs will work with its new OS.

If you are still on a supported OS, we need more details. Have you just created a catalog and imported 100k+ files?  Or at least imported a large number of files?  If so, it is possible the the files have been locked by media analysis taking place in the background.
