I have seen a You Tube video which shows how to fix this on Windows, but I need a procedure for an iMac.

I gather that the update 16_6 package update does not work until you delete the original RAW  file.

Can anyone help with this most annoying problem?

I have tried to work out a Mac procedure from the above Windows procedure but the two systems are very different

You went to

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CC/File Formats

and copied the Camera Raw.plugin by right clicking and selecting Copy

now go to

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/Elements 20/File Formats

and right click in an empty space below the existing Camera Raw.plugin and select Paste Item

to replace the existing Camera Raw.plugin with the one you copied earlier.
