Elements 2024 filters

I have Elements 2018 and currently trying the free trial of Elements 2024. Many of the 2024 filter options are listed but are in faded text and not available. I am wondering if they are available in Elements 2024 paid version and not the free trial. I am particulary interested in Stylize Glowing Edges and the Artistic and Brush Strokes families of filters

Thanks,

Pete

When you activate it by purchasing and entering the serial number, you can download those filters.

As far as i know, there are no limitations in the trial version of photoshop elements.

Look under Image>Mode and make sure your image is RGB Color and 8 Bits/Channel.

As a matter of fact, you can open half of the available filters even in 16 bits mode. Just try to open a raw file in 16 bits.  If they are greyed out, it's because it's a limitation of PSE.

Do you have a photo open in the Editor when selecting a filter from the menu?  If not, the filters will be inactive.

(And the only item that can be downloaded separately from the program is the Camera Raw plug-in.  All other content is downloaded automatically.)

Added:  After looking at Jeff's post, the problem is almost certainly using 16 Bits/Channel images.  The filters are all active even when using 8 Bits-greyscale mode.

Hi @defaultvae62mvj29pj, the filters are available in the free trial as well. Are you not able to access them by clicking the respective thumbnails in the filter gallery?

Regards,

Medha

Thanks for the reply. The tool bar at the top of the screen had these
options gray scaled and not available. However I did find later that the
toolbar at the bottom right of the screen had these options available. My
previous experience with Elements was these options were available at the
toolbar at the top of the screen and I did not think of looking elsewhere
at the time when they weren't available.

Hi Pete

As Greg says you need to have an image open in the main window of Advanced mode otherwise the filter menu will be grayed out. Take a look also at the new color match filters which use the Creative Cloud Photoshop color transfer technology. I have a YouTube Video showing this feature.
