Does anyone know if Adobe have now moved away from using Google Maps in Elements Organizer? I've just downloaded the 2019 trial at it appears that the Place tab is using Mapbox. I know Adobe had some issues with Google a while back leading to one of the recent versions not being able to display the maps in the Places tab. Maybe I shouldn't care which maps are used but I do prefer Google Maps so just wondering if anyone knows if this is a permanent move by Adobe away from Google?

Hi,
Google Maps recently changed how map data is delivered to applications like Photoshop Elements & has put a few restrictions which impacts the functionality.
We have now partnered with Mapbox, a leading maps provider, to offer tagging & searching by location functionality within Elements.

Does this mean that the maps will stop working in previous Photoshop Elements versions such as 2018 that use Google Maps?

Hi,
We are still working on this to evaluate all the possible solutions and shall be able to give you more information about this once the evaluations are done.

I am using Photoshop Elements 2018 Organiser. As of a couple of days ago, the map function has stopped working. Furthermore, when you press on "More" button, it take you at a webpage that refers to versions 11 to 14.
Can this be fixed?

Hi Sumit,
As mentioned earlier in the post, this is because Google is not supporting it, although all you place tags are still in tact.
However, a new Map service is introduced in Photoshop Elements 2019. If you would like to continue using the Map view feature, it is recommended that you upgrade to Photoshop Elements 2019.
Please refer this article to know more in detail.
Map view does not load in Elements Organizer
Hope this answers your question.

Hi
I don't see this as a reasonable response - I paid for a license for elements (2018) and heavily used the map functionality. Saying that I should upgrade to 2019 just to retain that functionality (BTW 2019 is a very light update in terms of functions) is a rather poor customer experience.
Given that it was your decision to remove the functionality due to a price increase from google, should have resulted in a patch being made available for at least the last two versions.
Very poor.

I have just upgraded to PSE 2019 and, after a lot of effort have succeeded in getting my medial folder structure and my Keyword, Place, People and Events tags visible. I have hit 2 problems:
1. When I try to add a new place tag for a small town/village, the place is identified; I click 'Done', but the place does nt appear in the Places list. It works for larger towns.
2. When I add a larger town and click /Done' the new location doesn't show in the usual folder sequence of: country, county, town, etc, but they show in a separate place in the overall 'Places' sequence. How can I get the hierarchical sequence restored?
Grateful
To add to my posting above. For the UK, towns are not grouped by County as they should be, but are shown as just one long list of 'towns'. For Scotland, no counties are shown, but the towns are listed under Scotland. For Wales, sometimes the county is shown and sometimes it is not, but the towns are listed under Wales.
Also, to list a UK town, you need to select the option with the 'double' town name. For instance 'Harlech' from the list of new places doesn't work, but selecting 'Harlech, Harlech .....' does.
The system works for the USA (shows the state) and for France (shows the departement).
There is a weakness or an error in the 2019 Places coding.
