hanks for your response..  My concern is whether or not I can regain the album organization Photoshop provides......

Hope you are able to assist!

answers to your questions....

I'm using W10 and elements 15 (yeah,,, oldddd)
catalog originally created years ago prior to 15, but not sure as to specific version

Error occurred when  I was adding new photos/videos to photoshop from a file on my computer created by exporting photos from Google photos.  There were quite a few (750+t and it was near the end of the process when the error occurred. I have been able to create a new catalog  and add photos to it, but when I request conversion from My catalog to the new catalog it gives a message 'no media exists in my catalog".

backup -  no backup made by Photoshop exists.  However, I have a copy of folder Pictures I made a year ago on  another drive using copy/paste..  Thought about reversing the process but need guidance as to whether this is a good idea and if so should it be done selectively (ie, all folders/files or a subset)

OS has not changed since catalog last worked.  Don't think Elements has..  There are apparently no updates available now doubt their have been for some time.......

Solution I tried came from a google query that indicated it came from the community... the steps were -
-- open element organizer w/shift keep depressed
- you'll see catalog mgr dialog..
- click on new and specify any name, then click ok
- check for updates and install (as stated their were none)
- Go back to manage catalogs
- click to convert (would not convert due to no media in My Catalog)

What OS and version of Elements are you using?

In which Elements version was the catalog originally created?

Exactly what steps did you take to generate the error message?

Do you have any backups of your catalog?

Have you changed your OS or upgraded Elements since the catalog last worked?

If you don't tell us what solution you tried, we will be wasting our time telling you to try the same thing again.
