Everything becomes selection brush tool

New Here ,
Sep 16, 2017 Sep 16, 2017

I am using a MacBook Air on OS X and the software is up to date, 10.11.6., and Photoshop Elements 10, Version 10.0, which I just updated to. I am also using a Wacom Intuos Tablet, and I just updated the driver.

My problem is that no matter what tool I am using, it reverts to the Selection Brush Tool (A). I can click any key on my keyboard and it will become the SBT.

I noticed because I was using the brush tool and if I tried to increase the brush size, it became the SBT, and when I clicked (B) it just changed the type of the SBT.

I have restarted and updated PS, I Reset All Tools inside of PS and when the app was launching (multiple times, sometimes it fixes the problem for a little bit but now it just goes back to SBT.) Restarted my computer too.

Seems like there should be a simple solution. Thank you for reading! I'd appreciate any input.

Please try the following steps:

  • Quit Photoshop Elements
  • Navigate to MediaDatabase.db3 file and ThumbDatabease file location
  • Delete MediaDatabase.db3 file and ThumbDatabase file
  • Launch Elements.... and leave it alone for 10 minutes while the MediaDatabase file rebuilds

MediaDatabase.db3 file path: /Library/Application Support/adobe/Photoshop Elements/10.0/Locale/en_US(or your locale)

ThumbDatabase  file location: /Library/Application Support/adobe/Photoshop Elements/10.0
