Face recognition problem

New Here ,
Apr 24, 2017 Apr 24, 2017

Elements 15 asks me if it's attempt to recognize a face is correct.  Example: "Is this Jane? Yes, X(no)".  If the guess is wrong, i.e. it's Sally, the program will not allow me to choose X and then enter a name.  Previous versions have allowed me to make name corrections.

What can be done about this?

Hello,

Thanks a lot for reaching out to us.

I would request you to answer following quick queries of mine and try the suggestions wherever mentioned:

  • Is your catalog size very large?
  • Please try clicking 'x' at the suggestion, as you mentioned above, and wait for it to respond to your click. The large catalog size might be the reason for this behavior and might need some time to respond to your request.

We have validated at this our end and the functionality works fine with Elements 15 also.

In case the issue still remains unresolved, I would then request you to please attach a video or screenshot of your scenario to help us understand it better and provide the resolution accordingly.

Thanks,

Arshla

Arshia,

Thank you for the response.

Attached is my system information, including information about Elements 15

and my Pictures folder files and size.

I tried your suggestion to click on the X and wait for a response. It

worked, but took 15-20 seconds before I could enter a new name.

I'm surprised that it takes so long. I've had a number of previous

Elements versions and, to my recollection, not had this problem. In

Elements 15, the initial name suggestion is quick and if I accept the

suggestion, the acceptance is quick. It's only when I wish to assign a

name different from the suggested name, does the process slow down.

Sincerely,

Ed

The face recognition problem has gotten worse.  Previously, if I clicked X and waited, then the program would allow me to enter another name after 15-20 seconds.  At this time, the program does not allow me to enter another name.

Additionally, the program is not recognizing several people and always gives the same suggested name for all three persons.  The three un-recognized persons and the name suggested are not new persons and have all been labeled in pictures for several years.

I tried looking at all the pictures of the person whose name is being suggested and do not find any mis-marked pictures.

I've spent more time with this issue and see another problem.  Example, I have a picture with 5 persons.  Face recognition correctly suggests the first three and the names are confirmed.  The fourth face is correctly suggested as Ed and I confirm the suggestion.  Then, Elements suggests the last person (Susan) is also Ed.  I click on X, in order to enter the name Susan, and Ed's name disappears from the list of names in the picture. That is, Ed is no longer identified as being in the picture.
