Finding photos after major crash

Explorer ,
Dec 07, 2019 Dec 07, 2019

I have had a major chash of Windows 10 PRO 64bit which necessatated an complete reinstall of Photoshop Elements 11 and all my other other programs.

I know that I have my old catalog on the PC but don't know where.  I seem to recall that it was possible to have the program do a search for all photo's which could be found anywhere.  If this recolection is correct how do I do this & would the files found still have there tags, exif data etc, date taken?

Thanks for any help.

If your catalog and all of the media files are in the same location as before you (presumably) reset Windows, you can do a search for a file called catalog.pse11db.  Once found, double-click on it and the original catalog should open in Elements.  Make sure that file extensions are visible in Windows File Explorer before conducting your search, otherwise you will only see a file with the name Catalog.
