HELP! White background needed on a VERY colorful hat

Hello,

I have searched for hours regarding how to place a white background on a very colorful hat. I have tried many tutorials and I have a basic understanding of how to do it if the edges were well defined. However, the edges are not well defined and nothing really gets the edges clean. Because the hat is very colorful and needed for ecommerce, I need some assistance and the proper steps. My previous post did not have a pix uploaded. I just figured out how to upload an image. Thanks so much in advance.

I would try the Magnetic Lasso tool and invert the selection, and then the Magic Eraser tool followed by removing the selection and some very careful use of the Eraser tool with several different brushes.
