How can I make a banner for a web site by lining up 6 photos in a new file?

I have 6 photos that I want to line up side-by-side horizontally so I can save them all together as a single file that I will then resize and use as a banner on a web site.  How can I do that?

I have Photoshop Elements 15.

1. Do the math so that you will have sufficient space to accommodate the 6 photo-files.
2. In Expert tab, go to File>new>blank file. Enter the width and height, as determined in step #1. For resolution, enter the same value as the resolution of the 6 files. 72 px/in is satisfactory for  a web site. For Background content, I would make it transparent. This will be your canvas.
3. Open file #1, go to Select>all, Edit>copy to put it on the clipboard. Go back to the canvas, then Edit>paste
4. Activate the Move tool, and position file#1.
5. Repeat this process for files #2-6.
6. You should have 7 layers: Background layer (canvas) and 6 layers with the photo-files.

Note that you can position or re-position the files with the move tool by activating the appropriate layer, and you can make minor size adjustments with the corner handles of the bounding box.
