How do I get captions to appear in Photoshop Elements 2019

I have files with captions located at tag 010E that appear in Photoshop 12, but not in Photoshop 2019.  Captions entered in Photoshop 2019 do not appear in the file header, possibly only in the catalog.

Try selecting thumbnails in Organizer and from the menu choose:

File >> Write metadata to files

Thank You.  That solves the part of my problem, when I write a caption in PSE 2019.

The bigger problem is that I've been using another editor for 30 years, which places the caption in the .JPG file header at a position labeled by a tag code.  PSE 12 automatically read that caption and, I assume, added it to the catalog.  As far as I can tell PSE 2019 ignores it, thereby making 30 years worth of captions worthless.  I can write a program to copy the captions to another tag location in the file header if that would help.

I’m not aware of changes between PSE12 and later versions, regarding captions/descriptions.

There are a number of third party apps for juggling metadata; no doubt including your own.

Thank you.  I had to solve the problem by going back to PSE 12.  It appears to me that the ability to reach into the header for the caption at the 010E tag has disappeared in PSE 2019.  I became accustomed to it on PSE12.
