How to open .psd file from old version in new 2020 version

Hello! I need some help opening a .psd file from an older version of Elements (8) in the most recent version (2020). I keep getting an error saying its not a valid photoshop document. Is their any way around this?

Try opening it with other software. If it opens, you can resave.
