I don't want Elements accessing the internet

I just bought Element 14.  It is constantly connecting up to the internet.  I have limited bandwidth & want to use the program offline.  It is completely

useless to me if I can't work offline.   I could really use some advice.  I'm so disappointed as I'm not likely to shut off my modem every time I want to do some photo editing, not to mention the waste of money.

You don't need to be online at all to use Adobe Photoshop elements.  After you install it, you need to activate it once and so the Internet is required.  You also need an email address that you can use to login to your Adobe Account.  Again this is only once.

After that you can switch off the internet and photoshop Elements will work without any problems.  One thing you should do is to update the application after you have installed and activated it.  The update will bring your application to the base level and there are no further updates so no internet is required.

Hope this helps.

I don't think that is a good answer.  I don'y wany Adobe to access my internet as it wastes time and likely is stealing information from my computer.  But I still want my computer connected... LIKE IT USED TO BE.  This is a downgrade.

What do you think it is "stealing"?

I do not know, but U.S. privacy laws are lax. I must assume they want
internet connection for some reason, as it slows down my use of the
program. So, just given that they are being needlessly invasive (previous
versions did not require their damned opening web page), logic leads me to
think they are benefiting in a way that hampers Mt usage. Elements does not
require -- or should not require -- this handicap. At the very least, it's
advertising that I don't want.

Hi debbieb65278063,

Could you please perform following steps to resolve your issue?

- Please log in with your adobe id from Photoshop Elements Editor --> Help  --> Sign in. If you have already done this then skip this step. This is a one-time effort.

- Go to Help --> Updates and install all the updates present there.

- If above steps don't fix your problem then please attach a video or screenshot of the issue and share the workflow for the issue.

Thanks,

Raushan

I get what debbieb65278063 is saying, it's complete BS. Many people still do not (or want to) live on internet, nor do we have a need for it in our homes or offices. Now I have to wait until tomorrow, pack everything up, and drive for 45 minutes back to a friend's house, to have him use his Internet to activate this program just to crop a photo!?!?!? This program is more trouble than it's worth. I kinda want my money back....

Connectivity is a part of life today- it's pretty rare that a program does not use the Internet for any number of reasons.
FOR EXAMPLE:  Facebook "phones home" every 30 seconds to make sure your account is still connected and can receive any newsfeed updates.

Users of whatever program who don't like "being connected" often end up "missing out"- -typically missing out on updates.     Mnay of the assets- graphics for example need to be downloaded before you can use them.

Please relaize that without internet access the program will mostly give you what you pay for.

TRY THIS:

It's all very well saying that we need to keep connected for updates etc, but having spent a couple of hours reinstalling PE2024 from a pre-update version because the latest update stopped editor from working (see other links on this forum), presumably because I'm on an 'old' Windows 10 machine, then I heartily disagree that connectivity is essential, if it works don't 'fix' it.

Activation is only needed once, but if you really want to:
