Is there anyone out there that can please help me?? I have Adobe Elements 8 and need a raw photo editor plug-in so I can finally do some real photography. Apparently Adobe does not have customer support for this issue and directed me to the forum.

Can someone provide me with a raw editor plug-in for Adobe Elements 8?

Please, I'm desperate!

Photoshop elements 8 already includes a camera raw plugin, but if your photos are from a relatively new camera, pse 8 won't be able to be updated to the necessary camera raw plugin. If that's the case, then you could use the adobe dng converter to convert the camera raw files to dng copies which pse 8 should open.

Is there any other way to get the raw converter for Photoshop Elements 8 to be used with my Nikon D5100?

Unfortunately, no not from adobe.

You can use the dng converter 10.5, which will process the Nikon D5100 nefs, it's just been updated to cover newer cameras than 6.4.

You could try this plugin, but it does cost money.

I think I'm confused. If I download the dng converter 10.6, I WILL be able to edit my raw Nikon photos?

If you download the 10.5 adobe dng converter, you use it to convert your D5100 nefs to dng copies, which will then open in pse 8.
