Ignore images previously imported

New Here ,

Ever since buying my Olympus EM1, Olympus viewer 3 software supplied with the camera, had met my storage and editing needs until going wrong a few months ago. All of my efforts and those of Olympus support failed to fix it and I finally gave up and purchased Photoshop Elements 2018 a few days ago. I never delete images that matter to me from my cards, and the day after purchase imported about 4000 images from 6 cards with no problems. The  following day, with another 3 images to save, I went to import, expecting to see a prompt to ignore those previously imported, but no. The 500 or so images on the card did not always appear in order of shooting in Advanced Options, leaving me having to deselect all then go through the frustrating, time-consuming and visually tiring experience of scrolling through the whole card to select 3 images. Surely there must be a better way but to date I can find none.  Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Which OS (Mac or Win) and version?

Which Elements version?

Do you import into the same catalog?

By default, the downloader skips duplicates.

Dear Mr. Paris,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

OS: Microsoft Windows 10

Elements: 2018

Catalog: Not sure I understand the question but this is the sequence I follow:

When I click the Adobe icon I get 3 options, Photo Editor, Organiser, Video Editor.

I select Organiser

Attach Camera

Select Import from Camera or Card Reader

Select Device

Select Advanced Dialog. All images on card appear & no prompt on right of screen to ignore those already imported, ( attached screenshot) and all images on this card have already been imported. As an exercise, I unselected all, selected a few and it did duplicate them.

By default: That is what I would expect to happen!

Regards,

Douglas Bateman

You can't attach screenshots from mail, only when you are signed in in the forum.

Check the menu Edit >> Preferences >> Camera or card reader of the organizer.

Thanks for your reply.

I was going straight to Import, not via edit. I can now access the screen you attached, but what next? when I click on OK nothing happens.
