Images won't load in Adobe Photoshop Elements 9

I can open Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 to the edit screen.  However, when I click "File - Open - Photos" the gear/ball just goes around  and around.  It cannot find any of my photos.  It is able to see the photos I've used in Open Recently Edited Files.

This all started when I downloaded Snapheal CK/Macphun from the internet.  I figured out that Photoshop Elements 9 had most of the same tools.  While both apps were installed, I opened PE 9 and found out it couldn't find my photos anymore.  I immediately uninstalled Snapheal CK, thinking it would solve my problem.  NOT.

I uninstalled PE9 and reinstalled it and my photos tab still doesn't work.  I can open my Photos from the dock and they are all there.

Can someone help me please!!

Thank you, Anwesha for responding so quickly.  My error, I should have mentioned that I'm using an iMac, Ver. 10.12.6.

I am still having the same problem.  Are you a Mac expert by chance?

Thanks,

Susan

Please try clearing preferences once.

To do so, keep Cmd + Shift + Option keys pressed while launching Editor.

A dialog will pop up asking to delete settings file.

Say yes.

Thanks,

Anwesha
