Hello,
I am running into an issue when I import photos from my iPhone 8 into Adobe Elements organizer 14.
I backed up my iPhone photos into Elements Organizer 14, no problem. When I try to import new photos, all of the previously imported photos are imported a second time. I would prefer to only import new photos.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Ron

Hi Ronald,
There is a duplicate detection feature inbuilt in APD. If you open APD and there are some duplicates, then the duplicate media button will get enabled (last icon on 'Show' field present on top left side of APD).
However if while import you change metadata of an image (by selecting 'basic metadata' option) then on next launch of APD, it won't be treated as duplicate. This is a designed behaviour.
If I was to talk about logic behind such a behaviour then it would be something like: When you enter some IPTC metadata in an image and given that IPTC data is to be stored in image itself (and not to some sidecar files) then its size is bound to change. Though this change is infinitesimal but it definitely changes. APD, for duplicate detection, analyses a lot of parameters one of which is size. Since on applying metadata, size of image in catalog/HDD is no longer same that on camera/card reader, duplicate detection fails.
Please let me know if you need more clarity here.

Hi Surendra,
Where do I locate the duplicate detection feature in Adobe Elements Organizer 14?
When I connect my iPhone 8 and prepare to import new photos, it would be ideal that all previously imported photos would not re import and only new photos would be imported.
Thanks,
Ron

You should be able to set the option from within the Organizer's Edit > Preferences > Camera and Card Reader dialog.
