Incomplete conversion from 2015

New Here ,
Mar 09, 2021 Mar 09, 2021

I just installed photoshop elements 2021. I was using photoshop elements 2015 and have used previous versions since 2000 or thereabouts. About 22,000 pictures are in the "2015" organizer. "2021" told me the catalog had to be converted. Fine, it was backed up in January. But at the end of the conversion it advised me files were corrupted and to do something. Only 9,174 photos were moved actually moved into "2021." Even worse, the folders list and the people tags were not moved so all I have is a 9,174 picture blackhole with no road map. Can this be fixed or should I forget it?

Don't give up yet.  Try doing the conversion again.  (You may need to check the box to Show Previously Converted Catalogs to find the old catalog - which may have been renamed with a numeric suffix.)

Before doing the conversion, use Elements 15 to Find>All Missing Files. You should then either reconnect or delete the files. Those sometimes cause a conversion failure.
