Any reason why the results of using "smart fix" on the "instant fix" page is radically different than using "smart fix" from the editor? Using it from the "instant fix" page results in overly bright images; essentially useless. Should be no reason for the software to be generating different results for the same function.

Why do you believe it must be the same function?
The 'smart' fix in the editor is not a bad automatic function, but it did not evolve since a number of years.
The 'smart fix' option in the organizer 'instant fix' options may have evolved to take into account the tastes of current users (more clarity, steeper 'S' curve and can even take advantage of the new image quality analysis... the result is stronger, but it can be toned down by using the other options of the 'smart fix' dialog.
I don't use the 'instant' fix very often, and never the 'smart fix' in the editor. I prefer editing in the expert mode, and for an automatic feature, I prefer to open the files in the ACR module. Its 'auto' settings are the best automatic feature for my taste.

This helps as I figured I was going to have to experiment with software. But for me a command should be consistent through out a program.
Thanks.

Hi Michel,
What do you mean by this:
"I prefer to open the files in the ACR module. Its 'auto' settings are the best automatic feature for my taste."
What is the 'ACR module? It sounds interesting.
Elements and myself are getting along better. I still have not tried restoring what I trashed yet. I'm disabled and can only get so much accomplished at a time.
I learn about 'duplicates'. That was pretty impressive. And, I have found a way that works OK for me to find my favorite photos. I just do a search via the star rating. If it is for a particular person, then there are ways I can narrow things down better.
I have been looking at Inpaint to compliment my editing. However, it appears that version 5 is much better than their current version (6.2). I searched and searched for the older version . . . but only ran into spammers. Do you have any ideas how I might be able to get the older version. On their FB page I asked them - but they did not answer. I suggested their offer the public their choice of the older version or the new version. I guess they are not interested in my business model ideas. Ha.
Thanks,
Dean
