Is an upgrade to Photoshop Elements 8 possible?

I have Photoshop Elements 8 which I am quite happy with, however my mac will soon no longer support it with the 64-bit coming soon. I believe the only PSE that will work is the new 2019. Can I upgrade my PSE 8 to 2019 or am I forced to buy from scratch? I am not at all technical, so please simplify your answer!! Thanks

Yes if you have your original serial number, you can install PSE 2019 and get upgrade pricing from any previous version. But shop around as on-line stores such as Amazon and Costco etc. often have promotions, making the full product cheaper. With the full product you don’t need to worry about a previous serial number. If your computer meets the minimum requirements I suggest you download the software from the link below and use it as a free trial; presently available for 30 days. The interface is slightly different to PSE8 but most of the tools will be familiar. If you like it, there is no need to uninstall the trial. Simply licence with a serial number after purchase.

Another question! When you say 'the full', are you still talking about 'elements'? I've just looked on Amazon and to upgrade is a whole 0.99p cheaper!! But I will continue to shop around or go through your link, which I haven't tried yet.

Yes PSE 2019 is available as a full licence or upgrade licence. The price difference is only 99p at Amazon so if you don’t want to be concerned with inputting two serial numbers get the £59.99 product. The pricing for buying directly from adobe UK is currently £85.56 (full) and £70.91 (upgrade)

You can get the boxed version delivered with disks which will work with both Windows and Mac. Or get an immediate activation for a single platform.
