Is it possible to clone from one open image into another? How?

I have scans of two antique images that use the same logo. The logo in one of them is damaged; and I want to clone the good logo, and use it to replace the damaged one in the other image.

I have been able to copy the good logo to the clone tool, and to delete the damaged logo. But I can't get the clone tool to insert the copied logo into the target document. Does anyone know if this procedure can be done, and if so, how to make it work?

Many thanks, Old Ed

Open both images side by side.

Use a selection tool and copy the good logo to a new layer.

Drag that layer to top of the layer panel of the photo with the bad logo.
Adjust the logo layer as necessary. If you need to, you can Alt-Ctrl-Shift-e which will create a flattened layer on top while keeping the original layers, allowing you to use the healing tool if necessary to blend in the logo.
