Is PSE 2019 free trial a full working copy? I cant get Guided Edits

Community Beginner ,

I have just downloaded PSE 2019.  I used to use PSE many years ago until my version (4) was no longer supported by whatever version of Windows I was on.

Anyway, I wondered if the 30 day free trial version was a full working copy.  I am interested in the guided edits and watched many tutorials but my screen looks nothing like theirs!  I am puzzled and wonder if I need to tick something somewhere, or is it not even there at all?  I am not going to risk paying out if half the options don't work.#

Here is a screen shot of what I get:

As you can see, I don't have any choices like the Fun Edits and Special Edits that are on all the tutorials.  What am I doing wrong?

Any help gratefully accepted

The trial is the full version. It looks like you already have an open image. Try closing or re-launching the Editor. Then go to Guided.

Choose one of the tabs and then choose a guided edit. Then open an image.

It looks to me like you are already in a Guided Edit. You need to cancel out of it and the other Guided Edits will become available.  If that isn't the case, how did you open the picture that is shown in your screen shot? Did you try one of the tutorial cards that is found on the Home Screen?

A grab of the entire screen would be helpful.

Hi

I have closed right out, re opened PSE.  This is the screen I get, after choosing photo editor from the Home screen, is

As you can see, there is nowt there!!  I haven't opened any images or done anything else!

Should I have done something different from the home screen, perhaps?

This is how it should look – click image below. Did you install from disk or download? Or is it the Microsoft Windows store version?

Clearly something is wrong and you may need to uninstall and re-install again.

It was downloaded direct from Adobe.

Blimey you would have thought that they should have got it right!

Thanks for your help.  I figured something must be wrong but its nice to have it confirmed by someone else!

It also does beg the question, what else might be missing!

Hi Shaileja

I have tried downloading from your link but to no avail.  Its still the same!  But thank you for your suggestion.

I had a thought - what if I try and download it to my hubby's laptop.  At least I might know if its something to do with my laptops settings if it does work on his.  I will give it a go, nothing to lose, afterall!

Hello,

We're sorry for the inconvenience you had to face.

Could you please navigate to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\17.0\Workflow Panels and check if 'GuidedEdit' folder is present there? If yes, then please share a screenshot illustrating the files present within the 'GuidedEdit' folder.

Thanks,

Medha

Hi Medha - thank you for replying to my problem.  I have tried navigating as above and only get as far as C:/programFiles/Adobe/photoshopelements    but cant get no further, not seeing a 17.0 nor Workflow Panels ???

However, I think I have managed to resolve the problem by just clicking around a bit, I right clicked on my desktop icon for PSE2019 and clicked on Properties.  Had a look through the options and selected the Compatibility tab. I figured there must be something wrong with my computer, as it downloaded to my husbands perfectly fine.   I then clicked on the Run Compatibility Troubleshooter box and followed the instructions.  Anyway, it found some problems which I asked it to fix.

Hey presto, it seems to have done the trick.  When I opened PSE 2019 I knew straight away that something had changed as the pictures on the first screen were a bit animated, which they weren't before.  I hesitantly opened the photo editor, went to guided edits and the pictures were there!!!!  And the guides seem to work.

Thank you all for your help though, its good to know were not alone!
