Further to my earlier posting 'How to create new keyword tag under place sub category in PE15', I have now started trying to 'Place on Map' locations that I had previously 'Place' tagged in PE11 and am running into some serious issues. e.g.
1. When I 'Place on Map' a country (eg Egypt), some (but not all) of the subsidiary, Place, keyword tag categories (eg Edfus, Esna Lock) are now showing 'No media available. Please clear applied filter and try again' and the corresponding tags have been removed from my pictures.
2. When I 'Place on Map' a subsidiary, Place, keyword tag location (eg Bathsheba on Barbados), an additional, district, Place, keyword tag location (eg St Joseph) is sometimes (but not always) created. This shows up with a 'red' dotted (as opposed to 'white' dotted) tag, which is usually associated with a location that hasn't been placed on the Map.
3. When I 'Place on Map' Nevis, I get a location 'Nevis, St Kitts & Nevis' and the picture set is correctly located on the Map. Similarly, when I place 'St Kitts, I get a location 'St Kitts, St Kitts & Nevis' with the correct picture set. However, while 'Nevis' & 'St Kitts' remain listed as a top level Places tags, no media, is now linked to them. However, a new 'St Kitts & Nevis' tag has been separately created, which is now linked to the media!
Are there some guidelines on how to use 'Place on Map' to avoid such issues (eg is it critical to start 'Place on Map' with country, before district, before town, before street etc)?
At the moment, I would strongly recommend that anyone who has Place tagged their collection with Photoshop Elements 11 or earlier and is 'upgrading' to PE15 makes no attempt to use 'Place on Map', as it is likely to totally mess up all their nicely ordered tags.
It is a great shame that this facility does not work properly. I hope that it can be improved.
