Issues with Offset & Manually making Diagonal Patters

Hello, I have tried everything I know and sometime it works others it doesn't but I am trying to make diagonal patterns in Photoshop Elements using a 40px x 40px size

Thank you for that. I am not getting the same result no matter what I do. Seems pretty straight forward draw a line copy it done.

 

But this is what I continue to get a little different then before but still not diagonal lines.

I've gotten many variations but not a smooth diagonal line. Here is another creation that I recevied when I made the lines bigger and spaced differently. Screenshot (311).png

 

 

I've done this many times before I am baffled at what is happening here.

Okay I see I am not moving the outer two lines out to the corner enough. I moved them out further and got this. Thank you for troubleshooting with me.
