So, recently I picked up a Wacom tablet and have begun a creative journey. I have a copy of elements 10 and tried to draw in it. Diagonal lines look like steps. This is occurring on a windows 10 hp envy 360 touch laptop. Not only is it happening with the tablet but the mouse as well, even when the program is restarted and the tablet is not on. I thought I would see if perhaps a newer version of elements would help and ran the trial, same issue. Now, for the cake. GIMP2 draw-lines are flawless, and this breaks my heart. I would love to have an excuse to get 15 .... but ... If I can't draw a curve or even straight line ... I fear all hope is lost. I am about to try it out on the desktop and see if the results are the same ... Haven't seen much on this topic that is current. But, since I do not have this issue in GIMP2 I would be almost certain its not anything native to the tablet or laptop ...
Help?
Will update desktop results.

The problem doesn't exist on the desktop. Which isn't overly shocking.

So, just to update, I've tried so many things ... googled so many things ... and found one thread(on the forum here- very old) with similar problem that went dead after help from an engineer didn't resolve anything. So basically, to have a portable sketch option on my laptop, I have to use GIMP2 .. open source software ... that draws apparently superior lines ... all things being equal. This also means, I will just drop PS because I am not going to go through the trouble of getting familiar with GIMP and then switch back and forth with PS depending on what machine I am on. I want to be fluent in one or the other. Dropping another $800 or more on a laptop a year younger isn't in any realm a viable fix. Just disappointing.
Note-yes this is from 10 which I own ... but I am not going to upgrade or buy 15 (which would be nice considering the sale) if I cant get it to work). I don't see a point in trying driver reverts for the table if the mouse does the same thing, unless it would somehow effect the mouse as well? only have a day left to figure it out =(

I've isolated my issue to be specifically related to crossing grid and *guide* lines on my laptop. I don't have this issue on the desktop. Which has a dedicated gpu and triple the ram and 4 more cores. I tried fooling with cache and memory settings as well but, TBH I've never had an issue with line lag or draw speed, everything is very snappy even with cache @1. Was hoping the lower cache would improve the quality of lines as the tool-tip suggests. Tried drivers. Removing the lines from view^ completely fixes my jagged/faceted line issue. I've tried fooling with the preference settings and all it does ... increase or decrease the frequency accordingly. So .... I guess moving forward, a non absolutely terrible work around .... could be making a grid file that I could layer onto my working files .... MEH.
I'm going to upgrade to 15 from 10 ... on faith that maybe this will get fixed .... lolololol .... Plan on getting a new machine in about 6 months anyhow.
Tschuss!
