Keyword tags in tag hierarchy not deleting if used on many photos

I have Elements 2025. In the organizer when I try to delete a keyword tag completely - not just from a photo it is on, but the complete tag under my tag hierarchy it just sits there. I can delete a tag that is on say 100 photos, but for tags on many, say 200,000 photos it doesn't do anything. Even after 30 minutes it is just sitting there.  I just upgraded and never had this problem on my previous version.

The only way I can continue the PC working is to move the mouse a bit to get the message it is not responding and then close the program. But the tag and all the photos it's on have not changed.

I suspect that to edit the tags on 200,000 files is going to take hours (and possibly days).  Each file needs to be at least read, if not written to.  This is a guess on my part, but if you want to see if it has any validity, try starting your desired operation and then go to Task Manager (if you are on Windows).  Look at the Performance tab and see if there is any activity on the disk that holds your photo files.  It will look something like this:
