Some but not all of my Elements 13 tags and photos were able to be recovered for Elements 21 on my new computer.  The tags are now all under "Imported Keyword Tags" and I was able to delete a bunch that were not ever my tags (have no idea where they came from) and I am nlw finding that I cannot add sub-categories to those tags now.  Is there a way to take those tags out of "Imported" so that I can work on the photos again?

If you still have your Elements 13 catalog, you can back it up and restore it to your new computer, then convert it to Elements 2023 (version 21).   Otherwise, you can create a new Keyword Category and click and drag the keywords from the Imported category to your desired category or sub-category.

I had Carbonite AND Geek Squad trying to help me get all that back but they were unable. So...now that all of the keywords under "inported" (which are now designated sub-categories) are ones that I have photos in, is there a way to drag them ALL into "Other"?  Would that make them initial keywords so that I can add sub-categories? i.e. I would really like a keyword "Christmas" and then sub-categories to be the different years - or in genealogy, the last name and then sub-categories of families under that.

Yes, you can multi-select the keywords (using Shift/Ctrl-click) and drag them in one action to the Other category.

In the Other hierarchy, you can then right-click on each tag and change them to a sub-category:

You can right-click on a Sub-category and either add a new keyword or even a further sub-category:

Or you might want to create your Christmas hiearchy from scratch using the dropdown menu next to the green plus sign at the top of the Keywords panel:

Thank you!  I was able to get all the keyword tags into "Other" (the only other tag header showing) but apparently I needed them all to be in some other category because now they are all subcategories under "other" .  If that is all I can do - I can make that work, however, in my old Elements, my main keyword tags had several subcategories, i.e. Geneology had many surnames as sub-categories.  I am going from windows 8.1 to Windows 11 and Elements 13 to the newest and this 80 years old brain is frustrated.  Geek Squad ands Carbonite could not get my old catalog back and also could not get  Elements 13 into the new computer so I had to purchase the newest and then imp;ort EVERY photo from the external hard drive with the bits of info they could save as well as all that appeared in wierd places on the new computer (over 35,000 in all).  I am in the process of weeding out all that don't need to be in photoshop.  Am I making any sense?
