Keywords edit not permanent

In Elements 18 Organiser I have edited a Keyword and have applied one of the optional Category icons. No problem. The Icon is displayed in the Keyword listing and on all photos tagged with the keyword and its sub categories.  However, this edit seems to spontaneously  disappear  after an indeterminate period and everything reverts to the default icon. I have not been able to determine any specific actions or keystrokes which cause this to happen. Any ideas?

Are you sure that in the menu Edit >> Preferences >> Keyword tags and albums, you have chosen the big icon ?

No, I have the small icon selected. Maybe that is the answer. I have now changed it and we will see how we go. Many thanks for your help.
