jacob1.jpgHere's my question:  this is a pic of someone i want to do a scroll saw cutting of.  i have the threshold where i like it except for the left side of his face. I've watched videos of layering, but i can't figure out how to select a region make it a layer so that i can lighten that area up? i've done a lot of portraits without trying to layer them, but i know once i understand how to do this my world will get a whole lot easier!  lol

  1. Use one of the selection tools, e.g. lasso or selection brush, to select the area that you wish to enhance
  2. Place this area on a separate layer (CTRL+J)
  3. Place an adjustment layer above the layer created in step #2, and clip the adjustment layer to the layer below (CTRL+G)
  4. For the adjustment layer you wish to use Brightness/contrast or Hue/saturation, for example. You can also adjust the layer opacity in the layers palette.
