Levels - Midtones slider

When I was first taught to use Levels, I was told to use the black and white point sliders to fix my image, but to leave the midtones slider alone. Is this a valid was to use Levels?? Or am I missing something by not using the midtones slider??

Hi Daniel.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  So, there should be no hard and fast rule to leave the midtone/gamma slider alone.  There are just too many variables in photography.
