Levels slider not working

in my 2021 version of PSE, on levels, I have the preview box checked.  When I move the slider left or right, there are no changes in the screen until I let go of the mouse selector. 

On my 2014 version of PSE, The changes could be immediately seen on the screen as the slider is moved.

Am I doing something wrong or is the just the way it's going to be from now on?
