Magic Wand Slow

Although I just added another 6 GB of ram, the magic want tool takes forever to complete a selection. It seems that the program locks up. I can make a selection, go to the store and come back and it still has not completed the selection. The other selection tools work just fine.

Reset the tool(s) and/or preferences:

At the far left of the Text tool options bar, there's a tiny triangle. Click it and choose Reset Tool from the popout menu.

Go to C:\Program Files \Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10 and launch "PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"  . While launching press "Ctrl+Alt+Shift" and continue pressing it until you see the dialog box to delete the preference file.Press yes in the dialog box. Make sure as soon as you launch press the "Ctrl+Alt+Shift" .

Another way to delete preferences is to close the PSE and go to C:\Users\<Your User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Editor (Win 7) and delete the "Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Prefs.psp" file and then relaunch PSE.
