When I go to print out the size picture, they do not even offer a 4 x 6 option, which is one of the most popular sizes for pictures. I know there is a formula to make your own size, I read it somewhere. Does anyone know how to do this? I have PSE 2

How did you ever find that folder?

I take it you just open up a new page - but I don't understand their formula with the 288 and the 360 - I don't remember that!

After I do the formula, how do I get it in the pse area?

To make a preset for the picture package, you could use a text editor such as Notepad.
Notepad should be in the Start menu>All Programs>Accessories>Notepad.
The following is a preset for two 4x6 pictures on a 8.5x11 page.
Open Notepad and type the following 7 lines:
; line 1,page size
I 8.50 11.00.0
; line 2, description
(2)4x6
; line 3 - n, drop zones
1.25 1.00 6.00 4.00
1.25 6.00 6.00 4.00
Save the file to your desktop as: FourBySixByTwo.txt
In notepad go to File>New And type the following eight lines:
; line 1, page size
I 8.50 11.00 0
; line 2, description
(3)4x6
; line 3 - n, drop zones
1.00 0.61 6.00 4.00
0.15 5.00 4.00 6.00
4.25 5.00 4.00 6.00
Save this file to your desktop as FourBySixByThree.txt
On your desktop click on one of the text files, the Ctrl+click on the other txt file.
Right click on one of the text files and in the popup menu choose Copy.
Go to the layouts folder as instructed in post #24 above.
Click inside the folder and choose paste from the popup menu.
Start pse2 and the presets should show up in the picture package.

It is in the layout folder but doesn't show up in the picture package. Man, it so much easier to just copy and paste your formula. Hopefully the above is a quick fix. I remember last time I had to make a new folder of a different size to put it in. We are almost there.......................;Thank you!

I meant to say we had to make a new page size to put the new 4 x 6 in.

My pageis 8.0 x 10 that is on the page size on the picture page if that makes a difference, it is not 8.5 x 11

The formatting of the forum sometimes messes with the line spacing.
If you copied and pasted the the above into your text editor, the spacing
will be wrong and thus not show up in the picture package layouts.
If you reopen the text files in your text editor and change the spacing,
they should work.

I copied and pasted just like yours, put them in the layout file and I see them in there, but not the pse file. The only difference is I don't have an 8.5 x 11 option on my page size on Picture Package just 8.0 x 10.0 0. Could this be the difference

Okay, the easiest thing to do is download the files.
Click on link below to download the Picture Package (4x6).zip. (the blue link right
below this line)
http://www.mediafire.com/?jiteldqgz44
Save the zip file to your desktop.
To open the zip file, double click on it and then it the window that appears click
Extract all Files.
Then copy and paste the two text files into your layouts folder.
Then when you open the picture package in elements the two presets should be there.
(Document page size and open the drop down menus)

IT WORKED.................IT WORKED.
I am so excited it worked. You have spent so much time with me, how can you do that. And you have so much patience, never seemed frustrated (at least on this end).
I know it could be done because I had it on my old computer. How did you get the 8,5 x 11 to show up under the page size? I remember that happening.
Now I can print out all the pictures of my kids. I haven't been able to for so long.
You are great.
Again I can't thank you enough. Can I leave you feedback anywhere?
Thanks,
Patti

On the top line, under where it says page size, is how to get a
custom size that shows in the picture package menu.
I'm just glad you got it to work.

Patti,
I also have PSE2.
The Picture Package layouts are in directory \Photoshop Elements 2\Presets\Layouts.
The file ReadMe.txt in that directory tells how to make your own picture layouts. I created layouts for two and three 4X6 pictures.
Here are the contents of the layouts, which I named 2FourBySixes.txt and 3FourBySixes.txt respectively. Create them with any text editor (Windows Notepad will do) and place them in the Layouts directory. In the Picture Package dialog window they will appear as (2) 4x6 and (3) 4x6 in the Layout drop-down llist.
I 8 10
(2) 4x6
1.0 0.5 6 4
1.0 5.0 6 4
I 8 10
(3) 4x6
0 0 6 4
0 4 4 6
4 4 4 6
Here is the 3-picture layout:
