Metadata is not updating in Elements 2018

Hi,

I added tags to my pictures like I have always done and yesterday found an error on the spelling of 3 last names. I corrected the spelling, hit file>save metadata to file (ctrl+W). It said file saved. When I open the file in explorer it still has the incorrect spelling. I just installed PSE 2018 about 2 weeks ago and noticed this problem only yesterday. This is not good. I take  too many pictures, and tag them all, for an error like this to be happening.

Warning:

This is nothing new. When you edit a tag name in the catalog and do the 'write metadata to tags', the tags are corrected in the catalog and added in the metadata header. In that case, first remove the old tags and add the ones in the catalog.

You can remove the IPTC from a whole batch of selected files like this:

In the right Information panel, you can see the number of selected files and a button to edit.

In the IPTC panel, you have button on the bottom to delete IPTC fields.

Or you can enter the new keywords and tick the radio button to replace.
