Yes,

When you install any newer version of the organizer, in the installation stage you get a message asking you if you want to 'convert' your last used catalog of the previous version to the new database format. If you miss that opportunity to be automatically ready, you can always use the 'convert' option later, or you can convert other older versions catalogs if you

Yes,

When you install any newer version of the organizer, in the installation stage you get a message asking you if you want to 'convert' your last used catalog of the previous version to the new database format. If you miss that opportunity to be automatically ready, you can always use the 'convert' option later, or you can convert other older versions catalogs if you want.

The conversion reads the old version and creates a new one with the same catalog name;  the old version is renamed with a -1 suffix and is automatically recognized from the older organizer version.

 

The above answer works when you have just installed the  new Elements version on the current computer together with the older version and catalogs.

If you are migrating to a new computer, use the recommended workflow: full backup on an external disk and restore to the  new computer. Once you are ready, install the new Elements version and follow the above conversion process. When you are ready with the new version it's your choice to use either the new or the old version with their respective catalogs. Keep in mind that what you manage in a catalog is always ignored by other catalogs.
