I have a Windows XP Media Center Edition Svc Pk 3 *and* a macOS High Sierra I need to install Elements 10 (Photoshop & Premiere) on. Struggling to understand exactly how to do this. I've got 5 disks (or discs?) in my hands w/ serial numbers. I dont think I installed this properly years ago, trying over again and not sure if I already screwed up. Blah!!
XP: I uninstalled Elements and cleaned up remaining reminants w/ CCleaner. I inserted disk 1, followed the onscreen guide, first clicking on Photoshop and when that was done I followed the same w/ the Premiere. No directions followed. I dont know if I inserted the disk in my CD drive or my DVD drive (it was turned around) so now I'm afraid to move forward since I read this needs to be installed in a DVD drive AFTER I aready started. Can someone please tell me what to do at this point? Is there any way to tell if I used the DVD drive or if so far I've done this correctly....and if so, then what?
Not even gonna start installing on my Mac (less familiar w/ Macs) until I know what they hay I'm doing here...w/ a little lotta guidance . Thank you!

You would know if pse 10 started and finished the install process.
Start over and make sure you use your dvd drive.
Anyhow, here's a adobe post about what the different disks for pse 10 do.

If you are able to start the installation process and finish it successfully using a CD drive, then its fine. You should be able to use the product without any issues.
And in case if you are facing issues, could you please share some more information about the errors and issues that you face?
Thanks

Thank you both for responding.
ISSUES/ERRORs I’ve encountered that I recall before:
PC: I clicked to update the software and it would not. When I tried to sign in to my Adobe account thru the software it began to process the command (so it seemed) but just stayed on the moving orange/white candy-cane looking bar thingy for hours never completing the command. When the installation was done, no shortcut icons were installed on my PC desktop which can indicate something went wrong w/ the installation process (but I may have installed thru my CD drive and not my DVD drive as I read afterwards I should have done).
Uninstalling & starting installation over again. Yes, I can tell when the disc is done installing but I don’t know what to do after that disc, the link and discs aren’t consistent w/ each other for Windows. And after the 1st disc install says it’s done, kinda makes it seem done. There’s no msg to insert disc 2 (for example).
The link given basically says:
XP PC -- install Disc 1 & 4 only
Mac -- install Disc 3 & 5 only
But the print on my discs make it appear (doesn’t exactly say):
XP PC -- install Disc 1, 2, 3 & 4
Mac -- install Disc 3 & 5
Disc 1, 2 & 3 all say (righthand side):
-- To install for Windows: Start w/ Disc 1 (...okay, so then what?)
-- To install for Windows 7 64-bit: Start w/ Disc 2
-- To install for Mac OS: Start w Disc 3
Disc 4 says (righthand side):
-- Content (but in the upper left - Windows)
Disc 5 says (righthand side):
-- Content (but in the upper left - MAC OS)
NEED TO KNOW:
1. Which discs do I insert for my XP 32-bit Media Center Edition svc Pk 3?
2. Do I need to restart my PC & Mac after each disc or just go straight to the next disc?
3. I read it’s impt to sign-in to Adobe’s website prior to installation, start the installation process thru the download link, abruptly stop it, then start the install fr my disc. That sounds bizarre, is that accurate?
4. I also read Elements 10 is not compatible w/ macOS High Sierra (I have 10.13.4), that Adobe will not be offering any updates or fixes to compatibility issues so I should expect to have problems. Not sure if that info comes from Adobe and yeah, I know Microsoft stopped support a long time ago - I’m NOT upgrading.
5. I also read when downloading the software from the discs to the computer, it needs to be put in the same folder so it will install from the same place or it won't install properly, is this true? If so, can I just create a folder and put ‘em all in there?

Instead of using the discs, can you please try to download the build from Adobe site(Download Photoshop Elements 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, and 7 ) and install the product on your system. This will reduce the complexity of using multiple discs to install the app correctly.
For Serializing your product, you can follow the instructions present on the installation screens.
Please Uninstall the program from control panel, in case if you are able to see the app installed, in the list of installed programs. Then install the product using the build downloaded from the Adobe site.
For the desktop icon, in case if you are still not able to see it, then please see if there are folders created for PSE and EO into the following directory of your windows machine: C:\Program Files\Adobe. If you are able to see the folder, you should also see an .exe file created which can be used to create a shortcut on desktop and launch the app.

Sorry for the delay in response. I'm having trouble gaining access to the web, working around someone elses schedule.
I downloaded the two files from the Adobe site link given as suggested (for Photoshop Elements) on my XP. I put them in the same folder on the desktop. File 1 (.7z) shows that generic icon that indicates when a computer wont be able to read a file. File 2 (.exe) shows an Adobe icon. When I try to start the installation w/ file 1, I get the error message - Windows cant read the file.
Should I be starting w/ File 2 instead?

I assume I'm not suppose to bother w/ File 1 and follow the same process for Premiere?
I think I sucessfully installed Photoshop on my XP except I... 1.) can't sign in; 2.) can't register the product; and 3.) can't update.
When I tried to sign-in I got a:
"Network error. Please try again later." My internet connection is working fine tho.
When I tried to sign-in and tried to update I got a:
"The update server is not responding. The server might be offline temporarily, or the internet or firewall setting may be incorrect. Please try again later. Error Code U41M1C213". Another window inside that window said: "Adobe Application Manager. Allow Adobe to collect update installation data to improve the reliability of your update experience. The information will be used in accordance with the Adobe Privacy Policy. You may change your decision at any time from within preferences." No or Yes
I've never received an error notice like this when installating anything else before. I quickly looked at that Privacy Policy and it seems I'd have to (my preference) opt out (re ads) about 50x in a whole bunch of places including contacting a whole bunch of companies to do so, link after link after link - if I said Yes. I'm not feeling this AT ALL. All I want is this software I paid for w/ any necessary updates if needed w/out all this other crap attached to it. I don't even know if this is related to the error code. This shouldn't be so complicated and confusing, and I dont get why I have to agree to all these ads etc. just to get this software where it needs to be because I already ck'd to box agreeing to Adobes terms before installing the product. Do I lose accessiblility to certain features by saying No?
I saw a posting where someone recvd the same error code and they were directed to an update download page Adobe - Photoshop Elements plus Adobe Premiere Elements : For Windows. Should I just download everything on this page and I'll be good, so I won't have to think about all this other....stuff?
Sorry for the rant, I'm just frustrated w/ all this at this point.

That's quite alright to feel frustrated.
1. There is nothing to sign-in to anymore since photoshop.com was disabled by adobe.
more info
http://barbarabrundage.com/2013/09/16/pse-8-9-10-cant-sign-in-error-404/
2. No need to register pse 10/pre 10 if you've registered it before, since that info stays the same for all installs of pse 10 and pre 10.
3. The only update for photoshop elements 10 on both mac and windows is camera raw 6.7
The updater doesn't work anymore for older pse/pre versions like 10.
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 6.7 update for Elements 10
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.7 update for Elements 10
4. Same for premiere elements 10. Only the camera raw 6.7 update.
Adobe - Premiere Elements : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 6.7 update for Elements 10
Adobe - Premiere Elements : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.7 update for Elements 10

OMG Jeff - THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm losing my mind over here, dont get why this is so complicated. Better directions and clarity is needed on the web, I can't be the only one and I doubt all the confusion is just w/ 10. I better print all this, write my own notes w/ the directions and save a copy of the downloads - just in case.
#1. LMAO, of course it was disable by Adobe...duh 😕
#2. I have no idea if I regestered it before or not and if I did what email I would've used.....like a decade ago.....hmmm
#3. Shoot. Well something is better than nothing, I'll take it!
Now I just have to figure out how to use this software (wasn't ever that great at figuring it out) and hope and pray that I never have to install this again or I'll be cussing up a storm!!! Thanks again, so much appreciated!
